How to Wear a Blazer

socially suit able

For the man who really wants to make a statement while out on the town, the blazer is your ideal companion.

keep your blzer in check

For a more creative work place or days where you need to dress up but either it is too hot or unnecessary to wear a suit, the checked blazer is an ideal choice. A throw back to the timeless days of men who always wore blazers, a check blazer is classic.

For the summer months, try wearing it with black or khaki cotton pants and a crisp white dress shirt. While a solid tie can work with this blazer, going with an open collar and undoing an extra button on the shirt is by far your best bet.

the studying blazer

Tweed blazers are classic. They are not the most versatile, but they will always look amazing with jeans. This look has been in-style for the better part of 30 years. While your university professor may not have done this look full justice, if you ensure a slim cut on the blazer, we assure you it will look stunning.

Relatively warm, the tweed blazer is the perfect choice for the autumn and early spring. As for the rest of the outfit; try a white dress shirt and slim black tie (photo). You can just as easily go without a tie, or even rock a simple t-shirt.

blazing your own trail

For the guy who really wants to make the most of wearing blazers, go with something more colourful. Great for evenings out or those casual days where you want to make a bit more of a statement, a unique blazer is one of the best items to go with.

The trick with one of these blazers is to keep the rest of our outfit simple. Basic jeans, solid coloured shirt, and basic or no accessories. You do not want to have your blazer compete with any other loud items, so make it front and centre by toning the rest of your outfit down.

the navy blue blazer

If there is one blazer you must own, it is a classic navy blue blazer. Simple, versatile, and ultra easy to wear, this is one blazer you will get your money's worth out of.

Dress it up with a pair of gray or charcoal slacks, dress shirt, and simple, slim tie (and tie bar). For the weekend event, go with the photo, swapping the charcoal for khaki pants. And for day to day, move to jeans and a solid or striped dress shirt without a tie.

summer seersucker

For those hottest of days, choose seersucker blazers. A thin, all cotton fabric, it is very breathable. The fabric is woven in such a way that it will naturally bunch, giving it a more casual appearance. It also ensures the fabric stays away from your skin, improving airflow and keeping you cool throughout the day. It also means ironing isn't necessary (sweet).

The natural pairing for a blazer like this is any pair of cotton or khaki pants, and a white linen shirt. Any basic dress shirt or even a t-shirt will work though.
