Cotton-Cottonny Suit

Navy Blue with Book

As sported by Neil Patrick Harris in every episode of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ cotton suits have been on a steady incline throughout the year. Being further featured in GQ, the navy cotton suit is unofficially the cotton suit for the office.

Just as versatile as the wool companion, the navy cotton suit will have a noticeably different texture and look. A little easier to move in, the breathability of the fabric is a life saver on those days where running to meetings is an inevitable part of your day.

Brown Suit with Bag

Just because cotton suits are great for summer does not mean they should only be worn in the hotter weather. Cotton suits look great in the autumn months and frankly work just as well as wool throughout the year for men who are comfortable with it.

Darker cotton suits are less common than your standard light khaki or coloured suits and very refreshing to see. Darker cotton suits also wear great and are easier to clean.

Olive Green Suit with Starbucks Cup

Cotton suits are often relegated to your basics of khaki, navy, and black. While nothing wrong with this, there is something undeniably fresh and cool about a colourful cotton suit. Darker colours like the olive green shown work great year round (especially in the autumn).

Colourful options also have some fun versatility options. Try using the blazer formally with black or khaki pants. Go informal with jeans and a white T-shirt. The contrast of the dark and light is great on those sunny summer days.

Black Suit with Umbrella

For those more dreary but hot days, a dark cotton suit is your best choice. Easy to wear, just like any black suit, it will go with anything. Quite the opposite of black wool suits though, cotton will keep you cool even in the midday sun (or you will at least be able to bear sweating in it).

Try pairing this suit up with a more colourful shirt. The summer months are an excuse to wear pastels and bright lines. Only a black cotton suit can hold up with such great colours in the heat.

Purple Suit

For the suit wearing veteran and the fashionably inclined, go to town on colour with your cotton suits. Fun and unquestionably unique, the right shade of purple suit is really something.

Don’t limit yourself by wearing the full suit. This dark purple suit, for example, will work great with khaki pants, black pants, and jeans. While there are other shirts that will work with this suit, focus on white. The contrast is quite stunning.

La habana Suit

Seeing as the August long weekend is one of the busiest wedding weekends of the year, you will more than likely find yourself sweating it out in full suit at an outdoor summer wedding at one point or another. To your cool rescue is the khaki cotton suit.

Paired up with a white, blue, or pink dress shirt, and without a tie if the dress code will allow, nothing will beat this clean summer look at your buddies wedding. If you do have to go with a tie, do it up loosely and make sure to throw in a tie clip to compensate.

Dark Khaki Suit

Our favorite khaki suit out there, the darker khaki suit is versatile and easy to wear. A step up in maturity from the lighter version of the fabric, dark khaki will work well for you in the office, warmer evening out, and at that weekend brunch.

What makes darker khaki great is it’s weather tenure. While a lighter khaki suit will look a bit more ‘unique’ come november; a darker khaki suit will still look great. Refreshing in those darker autumn months, pair this sort of suit up with a dark shirt and accessories.
