How to Wear a Plaid Suit
Refreshingly Plaid The Marc by Marc Jacobs store on Bleecker has a bright,
new window display. The eye-catching artwork is the result of a collaboration with
the Creative Growth Art Center, a program that works with disabled adult artists.
For this project, the artists each designed an item for the Jacobs
by Marc Jacobs line,
PLAID POWER SUIT
At the office, dark plaids do a great job of adding refinement and power to your look. The history of these fabrics brings with it a sense of presence that many pinstripes can not match. To really make a statement, wear something with more pronounced checks. You can essentially think of this as a plaid power suit.
For the more subtly inclined fashion fiends, try going with a subtle dark checked suit. These suits will surprise people when they pick up on the quiet colouring
HOSPITABLY PLAID
Plaid suits also have a place in the world of hotel managers, restauranteurs, and service stars. With the added refinement and elevation that naturally comes with a plaid suit, customers and clients will be dazzled with your ease and presence as you address their concerns.
For these situations, brown often works best. Great with most complexions, there is an undeniable warmth that goes along with brown that works great in any form of customer service setting
FRESH PLAID
Plaid is most noticeably seen in many light gray and tan varieties. For the avid suit wearer, these are ideal for weekend events, summer weddings, and those midweek days when you want to bring some life into the office.
Try pairing these suits up with a crisp white or solid light coloured dress shirt. These also work great as just pants for more casual office days. For the more fashionably savvy, try using these light coloured plaid suits with a pair of jeans

BLAZING PLAID
Just because plaids look great as full suits in the world of formal fashions does not limit it casually. Wearing a plaid blazer of any style will almost always look great with jeans and a simple dress shirt. To make the most of this look, opt for a brighter or lighter coloured plaid suit jacket. It will contrast nicely with the jeans and add a lot of 'pop' to your outfit
VESTED PLAID
In general vests are, in Indochino's opinion, underused. This is even more the case with plaid vests. Adding to an already refined look, plaid vests will make your look that extra bit elevated and classy.
A natural fit for the office, plaid vests also have a place for the classier casual dresser. Try pairing the vest with a pair of jeans or khakis, dress shirt, and a loosely knotted slim tie. It is simple and it works
PLAID SECRET
Brown is the best kept secret in men's suiting. It looks great on almost anyone, yet so few people wear it. It can be difficult to find a compelling brown fabric at times; but the rule is, if you find one, get it. This rule applies to plaids as well.
A crisp white dress shirt, unique slim tie, simple tie bar, and a classic brown plaid of any variety will look great. Period. Add in the refreshing, refined, and unique qualities of plaid, and your look will inspire even more . . .
